GMDSS
The course is approved by the Director General of shipping vide
approval No. 3-TR(135)/98
This 10-day, program is designed to educate ships' officers and industry
personnel on the complexities of GMDSS. Emphasis is placed on the
requirements, regulations, equipment, principles, and hands-on operating
procedures of each GMDSS subsystem. These subsystems include:
SART(s),
EPIRB(s),
NAVTEX,
INMARSAT C &
A / B ,
SAFETYNET,
GMDSS Survival
Craft Walkie talkies,
Narrow Band Direct
Printing,
Digital Selective
Calling,
HF and VHF Radio
telephone techniques.
Laboratory exercises and testing are conducted using our state-of-the-art
simulators and live equipment. This training meets STCW 95 for certificate
of competency and GMDSS (GOC) license endorsement.
The course concludes with a comprehensive review of all GMDSS regulations
and Operational procedure of the system and the subsystems. Exams
are conducted by the Ministry of Communication, New Delhi (INDIA)
& Director General of Shipping.
Exam Pattern:
The exam comprises of two parts.

Commercial Working (Log keeping)

Practical examination on MF/HF/VHF Transceivers, MF/HF/VHF DSC, NAVTEX, safety equipments viz. EPIRB, SART, GMDSS
survival craft walkie-talkies.

Simulator Exercises.
The results are announced on the last day of the exam and provisional
certificate is issued by Ministry of Communication on the same day.

Course Availability:
IMC runs two batches of GMDSS classes with a capacity of 24 seats.
Booking your seats a few days before start of course recommended
as the course normally runs to full capacity. Few seats may be available
